Melrose Film Festival Accepting Submissions

The 2026 Melrose Film Festival submission process is now open. Melrose Film Festival highlights the work of imaginative filmmakers across the globe and filmmakers are encouraged to submit their digital entries now through May 1st. Entries are accepted from all filmmakers, but Florida filmmakers may submit one film free of charge by emailing melrosefilmfestival@ocls.org with proof of Florida residency.

Categories include AI Shorts, Animated Shorts, Documentaries, Micro Short Films and Short Films. All entries must be 10 minutes or less and adhere to festival rules. Complete rules may be found at Film Freeway.

A celebration of the art of visual storytelling in short films, the 2026 Melrose Film Festival will take place in-person on Saturday, September 26 in the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation & Creativity at Orlando Public Library and will feature screenings of selected films. Special consideration will be given to filmmakers in the state of Florida, and winning films may be broadcast on local television.

Orlando Game Jam

Unleash your creativity and join us on Thursday, February 19, 4-10 p.m., for an exciting information session where you’ll discover the secret theme and special challenges, form a team of up to six members, and plan how to create a video game from scratch over the weekend. On Sunday, February 22, from 1 to 4:45 p.m., you’ll have a chance to showcase your game and possibly win cash prizes at the Orlando Game EXPO! Registration opens on January 1, 2026

The Orlando Public Library, Melrose Center announced the winning films of the 2025 Melrose Film Festival at Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation & Creativity on September 27. Award Winners are available to view online through October 6, 2025. The winning films of the 2025 Melrose Film Festival were:

4th Annual Melrose Film Festival

Join us as we celebrate the art of visual storytelling in short films, animation and music videos with the 4th annual Melrose Film Festival. This year’s festival is all virtual, with online screenings of 77 selections representing more than 20 countries chosen from over 1,600 submissions. Categories include Animated Shorts, Documentaries, Micro Shorts, Music Videos and Short Films. Melrose Center staff will also offer virtual events on scene and character development, sound effects, and 3D and motion capture animation on select dates throughout the festival.

Screenings will premiere Thursday, September 9 at noon, and will remain accessible through Thursday, September 23 at 6:00 P.M.
