Curiosity Machine: Build a Robotic Arm for Families

Join us tomorrow, Saturday, December 14 at 2pm at the Orlando Public Library for an exciting new event, Curiosity Machine:  Build a Robotic Arm for Kids.  Families will learn how to build their own basic robotic arm and test its abilities.  Families can share their designs on the Curiosity Machine to earn badges and get feedback from mentoring scientists.   All classes are free to Orange County district resident cardholders, Fee cardholders, and Orange County Property Owner cardholders. Registration is required. To register, you can do so online, call 407-835-7323 or stop by any of our locations.

Would you like to learn to enhance video like a Hollywood moviemaker?  Then come to the Orlando Public Library on Saturday, December 7, at 10:30 am and take our new Adobe After Effects class.  You will learn to design cinematic visual effects and sophisticated motion graphics using shapes, layers, type tools and more. Learn the essentials of advanced animation and compositing using this professional-grade software.

Behind The Scenes: Flight Simulators

Library staff is preparing STEM classes to accompany immersive flight experiences in the Simulation Lab. We are currently “test driving” the flight simulator and creating curricula for the physics of flight. When the Center opens, customers will be able to experience flying in a fixed wing aircraft, using full cockpit displays, immersive views and surround sound.

Update from Behind the Walls

In anticipation of the grand opening of our new Center, take a look at the latest floor plan and imagine what you will do when the center opens. Perhaps you will create and edit your movie in the video studio and editing booths, or record your music in the audio studio. Maybe you will use the green screen in the photography studio and create compelling images using the Adobe Creative Suite software. Collaboration stations will make it easy to work together on group projects and for businesses, you get to enjoy the convenience of our state-of-the-art conference room.
